Ckay Watawi Review & Rating
First, I will show you a screenshot of how fans are reacting on YouTube to this new song.
Nollywood Movies Great Said: A Trio that can’t go wrong together CKay X Davido X Focalistic, and Abidoza made a 🔥🔥 jam. The video looks so clean and enjoyable. Africa is blessed! We’re feasting!
Michael Spears Jr Said: CKay gave me insight on how to hit the international space. He had a few listeners just like me, but now he’s trending. I know it’ll happen to me one day if I keep up the faith.
Faith Kutsoma Said: Such good natural chemistry between the South African and Nigerian rhythms. Focalistic added the little details to the Amapiano beats which some international artists think Amapiano is just about adding the log drum, incorrect, it can be so detailed. I feel Focalistic was a good collaboration for Davido and CWATI. One Love Africans!
Bryce Lyrics Hub Said: I will always be here to support my African talents until we get the recognition we deserve. I really feel so proud to live in a generation with such talents 😍😍😍 wow this is super awesome and with this kind of energy, I see us topping the world music industry for the next centuries.
Assuming you now have a feel of what they are saying, now let me give you my own thoughts.
This song was too long even though it was trying to showcase the genre Amanpiano which is more of beats than lyrics.
Although, I find that this was very heavily reliant on the lyrics to bring taste to our tastebud. Ckay’s intro was a bit slow and lacked what made Emiliana and Love Nwantiti thrive.
I mean songs like Adekunle ft Davido High is heavily Amanpiano with that touch of Afrobeat and it was still very energetic.
While the lyrics were beautiful, the Nigerian music market favours more party songs than mid-tempo songs.
May I iterate that Ckay is a global star so he caters to a wild range of people from the nuke and cranny of the world.
As for Davido’s verse, I think it was short and lovely even though it also lacked that vibee nature that he has been known for.
but this could be due to how the song started which was very uninspiring for lack of a better word. As the song winds down, Focalistic brought life into it.
There and then, it became obvious that Amanpiano is not just a beat-heavy song but can be mixed to accommodate all genres (Afrobeat, Hip Hop, Urban Pop/R&B).
With that said, this is still a very good song but it could have been even better if Ckay milk Davido’s talent in Hooks and Choruses.
It’s over to you now!
