Top 30 Most Popular Musicians In America 2022

Frankly, the top 50 most popular musicians in America list won’t be complete without Miley Cyprus.

So let’s go through this next badge of popular music celebs in the USA, shall we?

 30. Miley Cyrus

Miley merits a dedicated article due to the number of contributions she has made.

The popular “Hannah Montana” genuinely stunned the audience by maintaining her fame in the industry.

So far, she has published seven albums, practically all of which have charted in the top five on the Billboard 200.

From 2008 to 2014, she was featured in seven consecutive issues of Time 100. Billboard also included the Cyrus family’s star as the Greatest of All-Time Artists.

31. KAROL G

Karol G (born Carol Gutierrez) is a Dominican singer, songwriter, and model. Her debut studio album, Unstoppable, was released in 2016 by Epic Records.

The album spawned five singles: Ahora Me Llama, Criminal, Hello, Sober and Labios. It debuted at number two on Billboard’s Top Latin Albums chart and Top Heatseekers chart.

All five of its singles reached number one on Hot Latin Songs, where they spent a combined total of 53 weeks.

The album was nominated for Album of the Year at Premio Lo Nuestro 2017 and won Best New Artist and Best Urban Song (Ahora Me Llama) at Premios Juventud 2017. Karol G has received four awards from eleven nominations.

32. Kendrick Lamar

Born and raised in Compton, California, Lamar embarked on his musical career as a teenager.

He went with the stage name K-Dot, releasing a mixtape that caught local attention. That led to his signing with the indie record label, Top Dawg Entertainment.

He gained recognition in 2010 after his first release, Overly Dedicated. The following year he released Section.80, his first independent album, exclusively through iTunes.

His third album, good kid, m.A.A.d city, was released in 2012 by TDE, Aftermath Entertainment, and Interscope Records to critical acclaim.

It debuted at number two on the US Billboard 200 chart and was later certified platinum by RIAA. The record contained major Billboard hits Swimming Pools (Drank), Bitch, Don’t Kill My Vibe, and Poetic Justice.

33. Polo G

Like his record-breaking younger brother, 28-year-old Polo G has been hip-hop music’s mainstay for nearly a decade.

After securing himself as one of Atlanta’s finest rap talents on two critically acclaimed albums, Polo G was named Best Hip Hop Newcomer at 2014’s BET Awards.

And since then, he hasn’t looked back. He sits atop the Billboard Hot 100 with the single hit “Cup of Tea.”

His debut album, Polo G, was released in 2013 and featured collaborations with artists such as Drake, Kendrick Lamar, and 2 Chainz.

The album debuted at number one on both iTunes and Amazon, making it one of the highest-selling albums of 2013.

It was later certified platinum by RIAA for sales exceeding 1 million copies in just three months after its release.

Meanwhile, you can also read up on G Herbo and Polo G’s net worth here assuming you are curious.

34. Prince

Before his untimely death in 2016, Prince was one of his generation’s most prolific and influential musicians.

Prince will likely be inducted into The Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame with over 100 million records sold worldwide, 11 Grammy Awards, and an Academy Award.

With tons of new material still being released every month by Prince’s estate, there’s little doubt that he will maintain high popularity for years to come.

35. Whitney Houston

Whitney Elizabeth Houston was an American singer, actress, producer, and model. She was cited as The Greatest Pop Vocalist of All Time by Rolling Stone magazine.

Her debut album became one of the best-selling albums of all time, with over 200 million copies sold worldwide.

Whitney is a perfect example that you can beat anyone at their game if you put your mind to it.

Only getting 4% when she started singing at nine years old, she got up to 80% within five years and hasn’t stopped since then. She is one of the most popular and famous artists in America.

36. Nicki Minaj

Nicki Minaj has had a fantastic career with many top hits like Super Bass and Anaconda. Heck, her fame ranks her 36th among the most popular musicians in America.

She has proven to be a successful rapper since she first hit it big with her debut album Pink Friday which featured her smash hit single, “Super Bass.”

She is one of few artists who has reached mainstream success not only in rap but in pop music as well.

Her music tends to feature production that blends hip-hop and electronic genres while featuring more eccentric themes such as wealth, fame, power, and sexuality.

Minaj has been praised for her songwriting ability by Billboard Magazine, where she was listed as one of their Top Artists alongside Adele, Lady Gaga, Taylor Swift, and Katy Perry.

As a side note, I also wrote about Nicki Minaj’s net worth whilst comparing it with that of Cardi B and Meghan Thee Stallon. Do check it out too.

37. Rihanna

With her iconic hairstyles, rebellious attitude, and, most recently, rebranding as a designer for Puma, it is no wonder that Rihanna remains one of today’s top musical sensations.

Rihanna has produced dozens of Billboard chart-topping singles and albums in her decade-long career.

Her album Anti was released in 2016 and included hit songs like Work and Needed Me.

It’s hard to imagine that Rihanna is already thirty-two years old, but she shows no signs of slowing down anytime soon. She has a net worth of $1 billion, so her popularity doesn’t come as a surprise.

Heck, she is also one of the top 50 richest musicians in the world today.

38. Jack Harlow

Looking at the new generation of stars, Harlow no doubt is right up there on the top 30 most popular musicians in America.

Jackman Harlow was born on March 13, 1998, in Louisville, Kentucky-based. He is an American rapper, composer, and record producer.

Harlow began releasing EPs and mixtapes in 2015 before signing to Don Cannon and DJ Drama’s record label, now an offshoot of Atlantic Records, in 2018.

He is a Private Garden co-founder. Harlow’s music has been described as light and breezy. Harlow’s first big break came with the debut of his 2020 single, “What’s Poppin.”

It climbed to number two on the US Billboard Hot 100, thanks to TikTok’s popularity, and received a Grammy Award nomination.

In 2022, Harlow released his second album, Come Home the Kids Miss You, and its hit song, “First Class,” earned his second number-one record on the Hot 100 and his first debut at the top.

39. Young Thug

Jeffery Lamar Williams, better known as Young Thug, is a songwriter, rapper, and singer from the United States.

He is regarded as a revolutionary influencer, with his songs influencing the present hip-hop and trap music style.

Thug’s compilation album Slime Language 2 arrived at number one on the Billboard 200 in 2021.

Later that year, Thug would achieve number one on the Hot 100 for the third time, with Future on Drake’s “Way 2 Sexy.” His second studio album, Punk, was released on October 15, 2021.
